Use Vouchsafe for right to rent checks

You can use Vouchsafe to complete right to rent checks for tenants with a UK or Irish passport.

How to start

  1. Sign up at app.vouchsafe.id (it’s free!)

  2. Go to Builder > Create a new flow, and choose the Right to rent template.

  3. Go to Verifications and select Verify by email.

Vouchsafe will perform steps that would normally have to be done in person:

  • collecting the tenant's passport

  • verify that the passport is real

  • make sure it belongs to the tenant

You can then review the results from the Verifications tab, and optionally download a PDF version for your own records.

Good to know

  • You don't need to chase applicants. Vouchsafe sends automatic daily reminders until the verification times out (7 days by default)

  • The check meets medium confidence in government GPG45 terms

  • You can optionally enable extra checks, like our online footprint check, for extra confidence

  • You can get notified by email when an applicant completes their check
