When you complete a verification, Vouchsafe collects and processes personal information on behalf of the organisation that requested it. Depending on the checks involved, this may include:

  • Personal details - such as your name, date of birth, address, or contact information

  • Documents - such as identity or address documents you provide

  • Biometric data - such as a facial image used for identity matching

  • Technical information - such as device or session information

We only process data that is relevant to the check being carried out.

How long is my data kept?

Your verification data is kept only for as long as needed to provide the service. In general, it is deleted within a reasonable period after the check. It may be kept longer where required for fraud prevention, legal reasons, or trust framework rules.

Data is deleted securely.

Who is my data shared with?

Your data may be shared with:

  • The organisation that requested the check

  • Trusted third-party services that help us deliver verification

  • Fraud prevention agencies (including Cifas), where enabled

  • Authorities, where required by law or trust framework rules

Vouchsafe does not profile users for third-party marketing.

We do not use your data to train AI models

Vouchsafe does not use your personal data - including any biometric information - to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access your data

  • Ask for incorrect data to be corrected

  • Ask for data to be deleted, in some circumstances

  • Object to certain types of processing

  • Request a human review of certain automated processing

The organisation you verified with is the data controller - they are responsible for decisions about your data. Vouchsafe acts as the data processor, meaning we handle your data only on their instruction.

If you'd like to exercise any of these rights, contact the organisation directly. They will liaise with us where needed.
